This Week's Highlights:
MONDAY Monday, February 8 Star & Dragon and Marine Lounge open for lunch and dinner service. Members' Dining Room is closed Main Level: Foyer and administration areas will be recarpeted during the late afternoon/early evening. Please be aware that the Main Doors might not be easily accessible whilst carpeting work is being done. Please use the Parkade entrance or the North entrance by the Star & Dragon.
TUESDAY Tuesday, February 9 Star & Dragon and Marine Lounge open for lunch and dinner service. Members' Dining Room is closed.
WEDNESDAY Wednesday, February 10 Star & Dragon and Marine Lounge open for lunch and dinner service. Members' Dining Room will be serving lunch and dinner, only with prior reservation. EVENT: Wednesday Winter Sailing Talk - local sailors are welcome to attend to hear Glenn Wakefield speak. Glenn attempted to circumnavigate the globe, single-handed, west-about in his 40' sloop a few years ago and was off the coast of Cape Horn when a Greybeard struck. Hear the tale of the journey, the rescue, and the recovery at 1900 at the Jericho Clubhouse. No charge, any donations will be gratefully accepted on behalf of the Corinthian Fund.
THURSDAY Thursday, February 11 Star & Dragon and Marine Lounge are open for lunch and dinner service. Members' Dining Room will be serving lunch and dinner, only with prior reservation. EVENT: See the Star & Dragon transformed into a little "Cupid's Corner"- we're having a special pre-Valentine's Day Family Night, complete with Valentine's-themed treats. Buffet will be set to go at 1700 hrs - no reservations required for this event.
FRIDAY Friday, February 12 Star & Dragon and Marine Lounge open for lunch and dinner service. Members' Dining Room will be serving lunch and dinner, only with prior reservation. EVENT: Friday Olympus Buffet ~ to celebrate this evening's Olympic Opening Ceremony festivities, the Friday Buffet is going Greek to honour the birth of the Olympic Games at a special price of $20.10 (plus taxes). It will be busy - we recommend members come early to ensure you get a table in the Marine Lounge. No reservations. No minors.
SATURDAY Saturday, February 13 Star & Dragon open for breakfast, lunch and dinner service. Marine Lounge open for lunch and dinner service. Members' Dining Room will be serving dinner, only with prior reservation.
SUNDAY Sunday, February 14 Star & Dragon is open for breakfast, lunch and dinner service. The Sunday Breakfast Buffet is available from 0830 hrs until 1300 hrs. Marine Lounge is open for lunch and dinner service. Main Dining Room has reservations available for the Valentine's Buffet. Invite your sweetie for a glass of bubbly, a delicious dinner followed by a mouth-watering chocolate buffet! To complete the romantic ambience, your dinner will be accompanied by live acoustic guitar music playing in the background. Every lady receives a rose as a memento of this evening. Only $49 plus taxes per person.

February 1 update - Event Summary 2.4 mR - 10 races scored, one throwaway: Bruce Millar rallied in the last couple of races to finish in 8th position. Former RVYC member Paul Tingley won the event. 49er - 15 races scored (+ medal race), one throwaway: Team Cook/Lowden competed in the medal race and finished 9th overall. Team Dale/Grierson finished in 31st position. Finn - 10 races scored (+medal race), 1 throwout: John Romanko had an unlucky OCS in his last race and finished 30th overall. Laser - 10 races scored (+medal race), 1 throwout: Luke Ramsay had a good showing in the medal race and finished the regatta in 8th overall. Mike Leigh finished in 19th overall, Derick Vranizan 28th, Ricardo Montemayor 61st, Alexander Heinzemann 79th, and Ben Scott 92nd. Laser Radial - 10 races scored (+medal race), 1 throwout: Jennifer Spalding had a good event and finished in 7th overall and was the top Canadian. RS:X Men - 8 races scored (+medal race), 1 throwout: Zac Plavsic rallied for his final two races and improved his standings to finish 13th overall. RS:X Women - 8 races scored (+medal race), 1 throwout: Nikola Girke held on to her 14th place position.
