  • About Alexandra Island
    • About Alexandra Island

The island has 1,200 feet of dock space, a gazebo-style pavilion, Wi-Fi, covered on-dock barbecue (contact Chris Barnett if briquette supply becomes low), horseshoe pit, 4 kayaks, 2 paddleboards, and outhouse facilities (two composting toilets; no running water or showers).

There are two tent pads on-site that can be booked free of charge via the Club’s online reservation system.

Check-in book is located on the dock, and First Aid equipment is located in the shed at the top of the ramp.

Excellent prawning, crabbing, sun-bathing, water-sports and swimming are a few of the highlights of a stop-off here, as well as the limited trails (please keep pets leashed at all times and remove all droppings).

A safe haven when the Gulf is heaving, however larger yachts should exercise caution as their windage on the dock infrastructure cannot withstand the heaving pressure when the wind and waves are at their strongest. If conditions worsen, large vessel operators must be prepared to leave the station as the dock infrastructure comprises chains to anchors and remaining would be hazardous. No shore power. Please note there is no caretaker and the island is checked by the Marine Asset Manager on a monthly basis, therefore all members are informal caretakers. Contact Mayor Jim with any queries or comments.

      SAFETY
      * Re-boarding ladders and fire brigade buckets are on the dock.
      * First Aid Kit, Spill Kit, and fire buckets are located on shore.
      * Muster Station is on the dock below the ramp.
      * There is information posted at the sign-in shed giving your location and what to do in the event of an emergency.

      NOTES OF CAUTION
a drying reef is located just off the east shore - give it a wide berth!
      * In the springtime, sea lions use both the Island and the docks as haulouts; give them a wide berth as well!
      * The docks at Alexandra Island are solely chain and anchor; there are no pilings.
      * There is no shore power.
      * There is no Station Manager; all the membership work together as informal caretakers and advise the Mayor or the Marine Asset Manager if anything is amiss.
