Both of the RVYC home ports boast safe, clean and environmentally friendly facilities, and at Jericho we host world-class local, national, and international regattas in addition to charity events.

    • Marine Lounge & Model Room

Boasting one of the best decks in the city (but we might be a little biased), the Upper Deck, Marine Lounge and Model Room comprise the majority of the top level of the Club for your dining and entertaining pleasure. Open for lunch and dinner daily, with changing specials for every meal service, your tastebuds will welcome the variety of dishes on our menus. The first-come, first seated policy takes the stress out of having to honour reservations. The Marine Lounge is where our weekly Friday Night Buffet takes place and we always have a singer/musician providing live music to add to the ambiance. The carnivores amongst our membership also have such a fondness for our Prime Rib Nights, we have them on Fridays AND Saturdays. We would like to remind guests that the top level of the Clubhouse is a licensed area (including the meeting rooms) - no minors are permitted (age 12 and older can bring their parents on Sunday evenings until 9 pm).

      Main Dining Room

A popular venue for larger family or corporate gatherings, when not in use for third-party events, the Main Dining Room is THE choice for members and their guests for seasonal buffets such as Mother's Day, Father's Day, Christmas, and Thanksgiving. The food is always extraordinary, the wine list perfectly paired with the variety of dishes on offer, and the service gracious and attentive.

      Members' Dining Room

If your aim is to impress, members can take advantage of the options on our Fine Dining menu. This gorgeous room in the northeast section of the Main Dining Room on the Main level of the Clubhouse is by reservation only (lunch and dinner) and seats 16 people comfortably.

      Star & Dragon

Prized by sailors, sports enthusiasts, and families, this down-to-earth restaurant with its open kitchen, television and children's play area (on opposite sides of the restaurant), and spacious patio ensure that no matter your reason for being there, you will find your needs met. Open for lunch and dinner during the week, this bright and airy ground-level restaurant is where the Children's Buffet happens every Friday, Saturday, and Sunday evening, as well as our delicious weekend à la carte breakfast menu is served. The Junior Room (where our younger members have their own area to study, socialize, watch television) is adjacent to the restaurant, so irrespective of the age of children, parents and family can have 'me-time' while their children are safely occupied nearby.

SECONDARY LIFTING SLING REQUIREMENTS

RVYC worked with Fleet representatives and Western Equipment Ltd. to come up with a set of load-rated lifting sling specs to improve safety while launching and recovering boats at RVYC Jericho.

No vessel is able to use RVYC lifts without gear in place appropriate to its class.

See below for images and descriptions applicable for each one-design class.

RVYC will require a load-test every year of the lifting straps and other components that you purchase as it will become a condition of your Moorage Agreement, just as Liability Insurance is.

Orders for component types can be made with Harbour Master ~ Jericho. Tel: 604.224.1033.

  • M242
    • (also applicable for M24 class because of the similar nature of the keel bolt and cabin-top configurations)

Here are the specs that have been developed for the M242 Class for those boats that wish to use the Jericho cranes.

      1. Two separate type three GRP811305 lifting slings that are 1" wide by 5'3" long & 1" wide by 5'4" long. Each strap is a type 3 - 1 Ply that comes with flat eyes at each end to attach shackles or crane lift-hooks to. They are load-rated for 3,000 lbs each with a breaking strength of 15,000 lbs each. Cost is approx. $20 for each strap, plus tax. The straps are configured so that two of them will fit through the average M242 lifting sling hole in the cabin-top (see photo), with one strap attaching to the aft keel bolt, and the other strap attaching to the next keel bolt forward (see photo)

PLEASE NOTE: Only use Sharpie pens on the straps if you wish to mark your name or boat number on them. All other felt pen types degrade the straps over time and weaken the material.

      2. For those that do not already have them, RVYC also requires each owner to purchase two ½" Wichard eye-nuts, load-rated at 7,500 kg. Cost is approx. $60 for each eye-nut, plus tax. In some cases there will not be enough bolt threads showing, and the existing keel nut(s) will need to be spun off and the eye-nut(s) take its place. As such, the new eye-nut(s) must be properly tensioned so it will not come loose with usage.

      3. Two ½" shackles are required for connecting the above Wichard eye-nuts to the straps. Model # SHD 16 stainless steel, load-tested to 7,500 kg. Cost is approx $30 for each shackle, plus tax total.

Full Kit (M242) Lower Attachments (M242) Upper Loops (M242)
  • J/24
    • Here are the specs that have been developed for the J/24 Class for those boats that wish to use the Jericho cranes.

      1. Two separate identical lifting slings that are 2 inches wide by 5ft. long. Each ply strap comes with flat eyes at each end to attach shackles or crane lift-hooks to. They are load-rated for 6000 lbs SWL each, with a breaking strength of 30,000 lbs each. Cost is approximately $30 for each strap, or $60 total, plus tax. Please see the photos below of Jai Alai, which show a single strap of the type that is being specified, and a separate photo of the shackle attaching to the cross bar. The new specs require two of each component.

PLEASE NOTE: Only use Sharpie pens on the straps if you wish to mark your name or boat number on them. All other felt pen types degrade the straps over time and weaken the material.

      2. For those that do not already have them, RVYC also requires each owner to purchase two shackles for connecting the lifting straps to the cross-bar held down by the two keel bolts, with each shackle load–rated at 6,000 pounds SWL minimum. Cost is about $50 for each shackle, or $100 total, plus tax.

  • Olson 30
    • Here are the specs that have been developed for the Olson 30 Class for those boats that wish to use the Jericho cranes. NOTE: This information may also apply to some PHRF boats as part of their lifting setup for redundancy, or other types of dinghies/tenders.

Each strap varies in length depending on the length of the primary lifting bar, but are generally 21-22' each. They are each load-rated for 3,200 lbs (so 6,400 lbs total), with a breaking strength of 5:1. Cost is approx. $70 for a set of 2, plus tax.

PLEASE NOTE: Only use Sharpie pens on the straps if you wish to mark your name or boat number on them. All other felt pen types degrade the straps over time and weaken the material.

Lift Bars (Olson 30) Bar Differences (Olson 30) Secondary Lift Straps (Olson 30)

  • Melges 24
    • Here are the specs that have been developed for the Melges 24 Class for those boats that wish to use the Jericho cranes:

      1. Three purple polyester Western Equipment primary lifting slings that are 4' 3" long and load-rated for 3,000 lbs each (there is an option to have straps made that are 5'3" long). Breaking strength for each strap is 5:1. Two purple straps connect to the existing lift points on either side of the keel, per usual practice. The middle purple strap connects to the ring bolt on the keel when it is in the down position and will have about 3" of slack in it as a safety strap. This means all 3 straps are completely interchangeable.

      2. One white GRP/Western Equipment secondary lifting sling loop that is 1' long and load-rated for 3,000 lbs (NOTE: if the 5'3" purple strap option is chosen above, this white strap needs to be 3' long, not 1'). Breaking strength for this strap type is 5:1. This strap loops through the keel ring when the keel is in the "UP" position, and the two strap loop ends then clip to the crane hook. There will be about 3" or so of slack in this strap system. Cost for the 4'3" 4-strap combo above is approx. $80, plus tax. Cost for the 5'3" 4-strap combo above is approx. $90, plus tax.

PLEASE NOTE: Only use Sharpie pens on the straps if you wish to mark your name or boat number on them. All other felt pen types degrade the straps over time and weaken the material.

      3. For those that do not already have them, RVYC also requires each owner to purchase three 3/8 inch stainless steel Seadog bow shackles for connecting the above straps in item 1 to the lift points. Model #316, with a breaking strength of 9,900 lbs. Cost is approx. $16 for each shackle, plus tax.
