RVYC Junior Training Programme

The Royal Vancouver Yacht Club offers courses for ages 5 and up, and for all abilities. We teach all levels of Sail Canada's CANSail programme.

RVYC membership not required for any Summer Training Programme. Everyone is welcome!

Programme descriptions found in our new 2017 JTP brochure, and a printable schedule is available for your convenience.
Please note: the times for Wet Feet AM program are now 9 am to 12 noon; the PM program runs 12:30 pm to 3:30 pm.
Priority Registration for RVYC members opens February 1. Classes will be available for members of the public to book on April 1, 2017.

Registration is online only and is open to members and non-members! if you are a returning registrant or parent, please use the same email address as before in order to keep your registration history. Important for tax receipting!

For RVYC members, please read our 'Member's Guide to Online Registration' to ensure an efficient process!

RVYC will continue to offer a separate "Hot Lunch" programme as a supplement to sailing classes. Please be advised that the kitchen is unable to accommodate food allergies with "Hot Lunch" and we recommend students with food allergies please bring their own lunch.

Students are required to bring their own PFD (Life Jacket), and suitable closed-toed shoes that can get wet (aqua sock type shoes are recommended). Please also bring sunscreen, sunglasses, a refillable water bottle, a hat, and a change of clothes. Students will very likely get wet, so we recommend non cotton sports wear for sailing, long sleeve tech tops have been a very popular clothing choice. Wetsuits are not required, but some participants prefer to wear them.

Helmets designed for water-sports are recommended but not mandatory. They are highly recommended for students new to sailing (Wet Feet, Optimist Fun, and CANSail Basic).

All classes meet on the grass area in front on the Star and Dragon patio.

2017 Final Course Schedule

* For multi-week courses, depending on the skill level of the sailor, there may be opportunities to join a course in session, only if the late arrival will not negatively affect the other students. This can only be done at the discretion of the Sailing Director.
